We are Heathens.
Our Kindred is a part of
what has become known by some as the Northern Folkway. This way is also
sometimes called
Asatru (pronounced; ow' sa troo), an Icelandic term meaning True to the Aesir and Vanir, the families of gods and goddesses of the Germanic tribes of pre-christian
Northern Europe.
Our ancestors had no term for this ancient concept; their ethics and values
were most often simply expressed in the countless details of their day-to-day
lives. For the Heathens of today it is much the same: the Folkway is our way of
life, a guide for our honorable conduct on a daily basis.
Wolfmoon Kindred is a folk of predominantly Northern European heritage who have
decided that the foreign ways of the christian desert god are wrong for us, and
we have forsworn them. We have reconnected with our pre-christian
ancestors, committed ourselves to learn from the past, and carry that knowledge
proudly today, and into the future. At the same time, we celebrate the courage
and adventurous spirits of those of our ancestors who set forth long ago from
Northern Europe to carve out a new and prosperous life here in Vinland (North
America).
It has been Wolfmoon Kindred's great good fortune to come to know several like-minded kindreds who share our sheer delight in the snow and ice, rivers and lakes, rolling fields and pine forests, brilliant blue skies and crisp, fragrant air, and deeply ingrained values and traditions of our beloved Northern Vinlandic Midwest. We stand proudly beside these kindreds as members of the Northlands, and we celebrate with them a bond of mutual respect, honor, and family affection.
We do not discriminate on the basis of race or sexual orientation and we are not nazis or race supremists. There is no place for such garbage in our hall.
It is Wolfmoon's goal to continue to provide Heathens with a gathering place.
A place to learn and socialize. A place to sit around the fire and BE Heathen. A
place for our children to feel proud of who they are, where they can learn of
our heritage and our ancestors.
